The application of Si-Al-Fe alloy in deoxidation has proved that the effect is good. Compared with deoxidization with aluminium, not only the yield of aluminium is higher, the amount of residual aluminium is easy to control, but also the morphology of inclusions is improved.
The high yield of elements is mainly due to the increase of the specific gravity of the alloy, 2.7g/cm3 of Al, 3.5-4.2g/cm3 of FeAl30Si20, and 2.8-3.2g/cm3 of final slag in steelmaking. Therefore, the oxygen reaction between Al and air and slag is effectively controlled by the addition of the alloy.
The deoxidization effect is good. It is generally believed that complex deoxidization products are produced, and the activity of oxides is reduced, which is beneficial to the deoxidization reaction. In addition, it is easy to form low melting point phase, which makes inclusions easy to aggregate and promotes floating removal. When aluminium and ferrosilicon aluminium (FeAl30Si20) are deoxidized separately, the content of total aluminium in steel is higher in the former than in the latter, while the content of acid-soluble aluminium in the latter is higher than that in the former, which indicates that aluminium oxide inclusions are greatly reduced when ferrosilicon is used.
